Math doesn't have to feel overwhelming or scary.
My name is Lauren, and I’m the tutor behind Math Journeys. I hold a PhD in Civil Engineering and specialize in helping students who feel stuck, frustrated, or anxious about math. Many of my students come to me convinced they’re “just not math people.” My goal is to change that mindset and help them build real confidence.
I break math down into clear, manageable steps and explain concepts in ways that actually make sense. Sessions are supportive, patient, and tailored to how each student learns—because no two learning journeys look the same. We focus on understanding why the math works, not just memorizing steps, so students feel prepared and capable on their own.
I tutor middle school, high school, and college students in a range of math subjects, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and select college-level and engineering coursework. All tutoring sessions are held in person at a local public library, providing a quiet, safe, and focused learning environment.
OUR PROMISE
At Math Journeys, every student is treated with patience, respect, and encouragement. My goal isn’t just better grades—it’s helping students feel confident, capable, and supported every step of the way.

I’m Lauren, founder of Math Journeys and a passionate advocate for helping students grow in both confidence and capability.
While I’ve spent years in higher education and engineering, tutoring has always been the most meaningful part of my work. I believe learning isn’t just about mastering content — it’s about building self-trust, resilience, and the belief that you can grow through challenges.
I’m a Central Florida native who grew up in Lakeland and now calls this area home. When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy reading and writing, spending time with my husband, and being thoroughly entertained by our two cats.
Math Journeys was created to provide a calm, encouraging space where students feel supported, respected, and empowered to reach goals they once thought were out of reach.
